Ref. 1518
Inside the 1518
Lot 99 in the upcoming New York auction is a very interesting Patek Philippe Ref. 1518 from 1951. Rendered in a beautiful pink shade of rose gold, this 1518 comes on a factory original rose gold bracelet. The 1518 is the first perpetual calendar chronograph from Patek Philippe, and examples on a bracelet are extremely rare. This one was originally sold in November of 1953 and is accompanied by the archive extract, so we know the bracelet was original. Antiquorum has the estimate on this fake watch at $400,000 to $600,000, though we wouldn't be at all surprised if it surpassed that.
Rolex 8171
Once the hammer falls on this 1518, the next lot up will be a rose gold Replica Rolex ref. 8171. This triple calendar has an inky blue date ring around the edge of the dial and a matching date hand, as well as a moonphase integrated into the sub-seconds register at 6 o'clock. Add to that the chronometer certified movement and matching rose gold Oyster bracelet and you've got a very interesting Replica Rolex. This fake watch dates to 1950 and is estimated to sell between $70,000 and $100,000.
